As each element of the installation and its creation is connected to existing scientific work, we will be looking into the research of scientists in the areas of biodiversity, climate change, extinction biology and others. Contacting and interviewing them about their work, and as we go, creating a podcast to document and share the whole process with you. And of course, if a topic or the work of a scientist attracted your attention, or you have any ideas or questions, just step in and let us know and we’ll see if we can tackle those topics.
And in parallel to all this we need to be really comfortable with basic principles of scientific research, so we can search databases, understand statistics and the scientific process as well as scientific publishing and learn to distinguish established science from mere speculation. Because the only way to tackle this crisis is if we understand the complexity behind it so that we are able to differentiate between suggested policies that are greenwashed or inadequate in their scope or time frame, and policies that could really lead to optimal solutions according to scientific research.
At the end of the day our generation managed to make a jump in digital literacy, so surely if we put our minds to it we can also make a jump in our scientific literacy.
